Puglia boasts almost 800 km of stunning coastline and is one of the regions with the most abundant coastal attractions. It is surrounded by the Adriatic Sea on one side and the Ionian Sea on the other, which converge at Santa Maria di Leuca, the southernmost point of Salento.
Renting a boat is the ideal way to explore the hidden gems of Puglia's coastline. You can create your own itinerary and visit the areas that interest you the most. You'll experience the variety of the coast, from sandy beaches to rocky cliffs, and choose where to dock and experience the local culture and cuisine. Discover secluded bays and marvel at the region from a unique perspective, away from the hustle and bustle of the cities and roads, with just you and the sea.
There are two main ways to reach Apulia, by car or aeroplane. If you're travelling by car, you'll have the advantage of exploring the region more freely, as you'll have your transport to get around. The drive to Apulia from Rome takes approximately six hours, while the drive from Florence takes about eight hours. On the other hand, if you prefer to fly, there are several regional airports, including Bari, Brindisi, and Taranto. These airports offer daily flights to major cities in Italy and Europe, making it easy to reach Apulia.
The best time to sail in Apulia is from June to September, when the weather is warm and sunny and the water crystal clear. During these months, the warm temperatures and the wind is light, making it perfect for sailing and exploring the islands. However, if you prefer a more peaceful sailing holiday, it's best to avoid the peak season, which runs from July to August, as the beaches and marinas tend to be very busy.
