The Dodecanese archipelago offers a variety of islands that are popular for a sailing trip. Rhodes Island is one of the largest and most famous islands in the region. It offers a rich combination of historical heritage, beautiful beaches and bustling seaside towns. Rhodes Town is a popular base for sailors and offers a wealth of amenities and places of interest. Another popular island in the Dodecanese is Kos. It is known for its beautiful sandy beaches and historic sites. The island offers a variety of anchorages and ports, as well as a lively atmosphere in the capital, Kos Town. The charming and picturesque island of Symi, known for its colorful houses and idyllic bays. Sailors appreciate the relaxed atmosphere and the opportunity to enjoy the island's beauty at secluded anchorages.
Located in the Aegean region of Greece, the archipelago benefits from a Mediterranean climate. In summer, from June to September, temperatures in the Dodecanese regularly reach comfortable highs of 25°C to 30°C. Winds during this period are usually moderate and steady. Thermals such as the Meltemi blowing from northerly directions provide refreshing breezes and make sailing a pleasure. However, these winds can sometimes become stronger, especially in the northern parts of the archipelago.
Spring (April and May) and autumn (October and November) also offer good sailing conditions in the Dodecanese. Temperatures are pleasantly warm, mostly between 18°C and 25°C, and the winds are usually lighter than in summer. This is a popular time for sailors who prefer a quieter time and want to avoid the crowded high season months. The best time for sailing in the Dodecanese archipelago is usually from May to October. During this period, the region enjoys warm temperatures, pleasant breezes and a low probability of rain, providing ideal conditions for sailing.

Day 1: Kos - Mandraki (20 Nautical miles)
Start your sailing trip in Kos and sail to the picturesque bay of Mandraki on the island of Nisyros. This tranquil and idyllic bay boasts crystal clear waters and is the perfect spot for a relaxing first night on board.
Day 2: Mandraki - Symi (25 Nautical miles)
Sail on to Symi, a charming island with pastel coloured houses and stunning architecture. Explore the narrow streets of Symi town, visit the picturesque bay of Panormitis with its impressive monastery and soak up the island's laid-back vibe.
Day 3: Symi - Tilos (30 Nautical miles)
Make your way to Tilos, a tranquil island with unspoilt nature and rich wildlife. Discover the impressive Charkadio Caves and explore the charming villages of Livadia and Megalo Chorio.
Day 4: Tilos - Halki (20 Nautical miles)
Sail to the island of Halki, known for its quaint houses and relaxed atmosphere. Enjoy a stroll through the charming capital of Nimporio and relax on the island's secluded beaches.
Day 5: Halki - Symi (25 Nautical miles)
Return to Symi and explore more parts of the island that you may not have seen before. Visit the bay of Agios Georgios Disalonas with its impressive rock formations or relax on one of the secluded beaches.
Day 6: Symi - Pserimos (10 Nautical miles)
Take a short sailing trip to the small island of Pserimos, known for its tranquil beaches and crystal clear waters. Spend the day swimming, snorkelling and relaxing before enjoying local specialties in one of the local taverns in the evening.
Day 7: Pserimos - Kos (25 Nautical miles)
Sail back to Kos and spend your last day exploring the historic town. Visit the St. John's Fortress, stroll through the narrow streets of the old town and enjoy a last dinner in one of the cosy restaurants.
The quickest and most convenient option is to travel by plane. There are various direct flights from major UK airports to the Rhodes International Airport or Kos Island International Airport, the two largest islands of the Dodecanese.
